“Moutzouris-Smudgy” was of great importance to the development and history of Pelion. The first section of the railway was completed back in 1895, which joined the city of Volos to the village of Lehonia.

POPULAR BEACHES ON THE PAGASITIC GULF OF PELION

Kato Lechonia Beach
This is the first nice beach you will find on route from Volos. There are several bars and cafes operating here where you can enjoy a drink or light snack.
Kala Nera Beach
The beach of the popular resort of Kala Nera is a very popular and beautiful one, and has been awarded the "Blue Flag". The waters here are beautiful and ideal for bathing in the summer. All along the beach you will find a wonderful selection of cafe bars and tavernas, as well as a great selection of accommodation.
Boufa Beach
The beach of Boufa is onen of the largest beach in Pelion, and is situated between the villages of Kala Nera and Afissos. This sandy beach is one of the most popular in Pelion, and one that every visitor to Pelion should try to visit.
Afissos Beach
In Afissos there are several beautiful beaches, with the most popular being those of Abovos and Kaliftheri, which are both soft sandy beaches.
